Spiritual Growth, Fellowship and Service Opportunities
Women’s Bible Study
This Bible study meets in the Neuberger lounge the 2nd Thursday of each at 6:45 p.m. Come join this friendly and sharing group.
Prayer Breakfast / Luncheon
Throughout the year, the Women’s Ministry hosts a Women’s Prayer Breakfasts and Luncheons. Guest speakers provide
spiritually enriching, interesting, and entertaining talks. Women have an opportunity for Christian fellowship while enjoying a
delicious meal. Please join us.
Prayer Chain
The prayer chain consists of over 40 women, divided into 8 teams, who pray for members, their relatives, neighbors, and friends.
The power of prayer is endless. The Lord says “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful” (Col. 4:2). Contact
Nancy Keck to request a prayer or become part of this ministry.
Greeting Card Ministry
Send a greeting or “Thinking of You” note to a fellow member. Cards are provided in the Friendship Registers, and the white
mailbox is located across from the church office. Women’s Ministry will take care of postage and mailing.
Banner Committee
If your gift is designing, sewing, cutting, etc. this group is for you. We meet in a home about 4 times a year to create banners for
our church.
Altar Guild
The Altar Guild is responsible for setting up the altar for Holy Communion. There are 6 groups of women. Each group serves two
months a year. This is a very meaningful way to serve our Lord and our fellow members.
Meals Ministry
Meals Ministry provides a meal to members and their families during times of hospitalization, births, and emergencies. If you enjoy
the good feeling that comes from knowing you have helped make someone happy, volunteer to provide a meal.

July, and August, from 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall, offering interesting programs. Special events include a June
luncheon and Christmas luncheon. All women are welcome. Our fund raising effors contribute to missions and help provide
needed furnishings for Covenant. The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) is a national organization offering unlimited
opportunities to “Serve the Lord with gladness” (our moto). Our “MITE” boxes help with many mission projects at home and
around the world. We collect quilts, blankets, soap, layettes, and school kits for worldwide organizations. See the weekly church
bulletins and monthly newsletters for details.
Healthy Heart Aerobics
Come join our fun exercise class at church on Tuesday evenings in the Fellowship Hall at 6:30 p.m. This is a great way to lose
weight and feel great.

the scenes” job that really makes a difference.
Ushers
Women are encouraged to join an Usher team for all services throughout the year.
OTHER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
There are other Lutheran organizations that always need volunteers. Many Covenant women give time to these groups. You may
want to get involved too.
Interfaith:
Visit with older adults of all faiths, drive them to doctor appointments of shopping, or help out in many other ways.
The Lutheran Home:
Assist residents by pushing wheelchairs, doing crafts, writing letters, and reading to them. Visit someone with no family—a
rewarding time for them and you!
Bethesda Auxiliary:
Help with projects for residents, of Bethesda Lutheran home, with physical and mental handicaps.
Economy Center:
78th & Burleigh—volunteer time and energy or donate good used items to be sold at reasonable prices to benefit Bethesda
Lutheran Home and LCFS (Lutheran Counseling and Family Services).
Place of Refuge:
You may also volunteer to spend time and energy with unwed mothers during their time of need or donate baby items to help
them. Volunteer at their Blessed Again Resale Shop at 76th and Hampton.
If there are any women of the congregation who would like to gather together with other women of the church, please call the
church office and leave your name and number and you will be contacted by someone from the Women's Ministry group. We meet
monthly either at church or in someone's home and we are looking for new faces in our group. We had a very good year in 2008.
We had a fantastic Spring Luncheon with a marvelous speaker, we had a mission project in October, filling baby bottles for "A
Place of Refuge" collecting more than $1,263, and then we had a "Holiday Tea" to end the year. 2009 will bring a Mother &
Daughter banquet in April, so watch your bulletins and newsletters for time and place. If you are called and asked to help with this,
please say “yes.” You won't be sorry. Nothing we do is hard and our goal is to get ALL women of the church involved in some
project of some kind at some time. We also sponsor a monthly bible class the 2nd Thursday of the month and guess what we are
studying. Yep, it's Women of the Bible! Won't you please consider visiting us next month or if someone calls you - think and give it
your prayerful consideration.
Covenant has many activities for women for spiritual growth, fellowship, and fun. Debbie Iverson leads the Healthy Heart Aerobics group and would like to extend an invitation to the women of Covenant. Healthy Heart Aerobics meets every Tuesday evening from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. in the Upper Fellowship Hall. They workout to different exercise videos and recently introduced a new CD from the Arthritis Foundation, Take Control with Exercise. In the warmer weather, they walk outdoors. Currently, the group has 4 faithful members, and is always looking for more members. With spring here, this is a great time to work on getting in shape. Please come - all are welcome.
