What to Expect:
Our Infant through Toddler rooms have bouncy seats, excer-
saucers, swings, and loving volunteers with laps and hugs!
For our beginning crawler and walking friends, this room has a
playhouse and manipulative toys.
Our Three- through Five Year Old room is a colorful child-scaled
room filled with creative play equipment, a Writing Workshop,
manipulative toys, and Noah’s Ark Reading Center.
Sheperding The Tender Care Children:
In Tender Care we not only strive to meet the physical and
emotional needs of the children, we also care and value each child’
s spiritual needs as well. Every month, Tender Care (Infant- 2)
will focus on one Bible story. Each Sunday, the children will have
a Bible experience created just for them, which includes, books,
puppets, flannel boards, music, and more all centered on God’s
Holy Word!
In Tender Care during the Worship Service, the 3- 5-year-old
children participate in an activity from the Family Education Hour.
We will strive to maintain the following ratios of child-to-adult in
order to create a fun, yet safe environment appropriate for the
children.
There will be a child to adult ratio of: Infant 2:1,
Toddler One4: 1,
Toddle Two 6:1,
Three through Five- Year Old 8:1
The Goodbbye:
Goodbye can be a difficult time. We have
found that the easiest way is to give a hug and
kiss good–bye and leave your child with one of
our Shepherds. Lingering at the door can make
the separation more difficult. A
transitional/comforting object
(like a blanket or pacifier) may help ease the
separation between parent and child. We
encourage you to leave the item with your child.
It is normal for children to cry at separation and
is usually short lived. Be assured of our
attention and intentional care for each child until
he or she is happy. We will contact you if the
separation anxiety continues for an extended
period of time.
Welcome To Tender Care Covenant Lutheran Church welcomes you and your child to our Sunday Morning Nursery Ministry. Your child is special and important to us. It is our desire to minister to your child’s physical, emotional and spiritual needs. We are committed to providing the most loving and caring volunteers and environment possible for your child. We want the children to receive the love of Jesus each time they visit Tender Care. Please read the helpful guidelines below. If you have any questions or if we can be of any help, please contact: Director of Youth and Family, Jennifer Charles, 414-464-2410, jcharles@covenantlutheran.net

Well - Child Guidelines:
Your child’s health is of utmost importance to us. In order to
maintain the cleanest environment for your child, all Tender Care
equipment and toys are sanitized weekly. The following
guidelines can help you decide if you should bring your child to
Tender Care.
Parents, please follow these guidelines for the sake of the
children.
-No fever for the last 24 hours (above 101F)
-No runny nose (unless fluid is clear and child is teething or has allergies)
-No diarrhea or flu symptoms
-No colds or coughs
-No active chicken pox, conjunctivitis (pink eye), measles, etc.
-No unusual rashes.
If your child becomes ill while in our care, you will be notified
promptly to pick up your child. If your child is being treated with
antibiotics, they should have received treatment for at least 24
full hours before coming to Tender Care.
Security System:
We desire to provide an atmosphere
in which you know your child is being
cared for in a safe environment. All
volunteers are screened through a
criminal background check and trained
by the Tender Care Staff. Every parent is asked to participate in our security program to ensure the safety of each child. No
unauthorized person is allowed in the Tender Care area.
Please remain at the front of the table and the Tender Care Leader will assist you with the checking in and labeling of your child’s
belonging. Then, lift your child over the gate of the room or hand your child to a Shepherd. At this time, you will also receive a
numbered wristband that will match your child. Sign in your child on attendance sheet, noting any special instructions and your location
in the building. Should we need to reach you we will contact you immediately.
The numbered wristband will be required to be seen in exchange for your child when he or she is picked up from Tender Care. Please
only send an adult from your family 16 years or older to pick up your child. It is important to pick up your child promptly after the
Worship Service. Your child will be brought to you out of the rooms by his or her Shepherd. This helps children remain calm and safe
during the transition time and is important to maintain security.
In the event of an evacuation, exit the building where you are and meet in the parking lot closest to Northwest School. There you will
find the Tender Care Shepherds and children.
