Rev. J. George Hauser - Pastor Emeritus
Pastor Emeritus J. George Hauser was born (one of nine children) on December 7,
1928 in Luverne, Minnesota to Rev. Martin & Emma Hauser. Three of the nine
became pastors, two physicians, three teachers, and one in the business field.
Pastor Hauser’s formal education consisted of elementary and high school in the
Luverne Public schools, college and pre-seminary at Concordia college, St. Paul,
Minnesota and seminary studies and training at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis,
Missouri.
Assigned vicarage: Total pastoral responsibility; Salem Lutheran Church – Salem,
Missouri.
Elective vicarage: St. Paul’s Lutheran Church - Skokie, Illinois Graduated St. Louis
Seminary in 1955.
Since graduation Pastor Hauser was instructor of religion and math and dorm
counselor at Concordia College - Milwaukee for one year; Pastor at St. John’s –
Mattoon, Wisconsin for two years where he was ordained on July 8th, 1956; pastor
of Calvary Lutheran Church – Elgin, Illinois for twelve years. Pastor Hauser was
called to Covenant Lutheran Church as Associate Pastor serving from 1970 to
1995. He then served as visitation pastor until 2001.
Pastor J. George Hauser & Hildegarde (nee Kionka) “Micki” met in the Lutheran A
Cappella choir and were married on September1, 1956 at Emmaus Lutheran
Church, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Their marriage has been blessed with five children,
Pastor Paul – Hemlock, Michigan, Dr John – Minneapolis, Minnesota, MN Martin –
Grafton, Wisconsin, Kristin Thelen – Hales Corners, Wisconsin. Karin Lewis –
Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. Both daughters are married to pastors. Pastor Hauser
and MIcki are proud grandparents to twenty-three grandchildren and two great-
grandchildren. Presently they reside in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin.
