Welcome to Stephen Ministries
Covenant Lutheran Church is a Stephen Ministry Congregation
Caring about People...Sharing about God
Stephen's Minister = Caregiver
God = Curegiver
The Stephen Series: One-to-One Christian Care-giving

The Stephen Series is a complete system for training  and organizing laypersons for caring ministry in
and around the congregation. The Stephen Series provides congregations with the structure, training,
and resources to set up and administer a complete system for lay caring ministry (called Stephen
Ministry) in the congregation.  In Stephen Ministry congregations, lay caregivers (called Stephen
Ministers) provide one-to-one Christian care to the bereaved, hospitalized, terminally ill, separated,
divorced, unemployed, relocated, and others facing a crisis or life challenge. Stephen Ministry helps
pastors and congregations provide quality caring ministry for as long as people need it.

COVENANT LUTHERAN CHURCH
"IT'S A NEW DAY...                                          ... A NEW BEGINNING"
As Stephen Ministers, we are here to help you.  We are Christian, caring friends who listen to small
concerns and major problems.  Sometimes the concern will involve one short meeting or multiple
meetings with a Stephen Minister.  As long as you need us we will be there.  We will never leave you.
Stephen Ministers have had extensive training in all situations and will keep things confidential,
otherwise we could not be Stephen Ministers.  We took an oath before God.

Please talk to us if it is a little situation or a bigger one, we are here to be at your side.  Situations can
be just about anything such as depression, loneliness, alcoholism, suicidal thoughts, sickness, loss of
a job, or just to have someone to talk to.  All problems are very real and important.

We would like to introduce ourselves to you...Our Stephen Ministers are;
Darlene Eiff, Judy Omet, Dennis Eiff, Marcia Rosynek, Diana Gutknecht, Dorothy Schultz,
Sue Mattmiller, Susan Wendt and Jim Newton

God Bless them and their work.
Covenant’s Stephen Ministers and Leaders pictures are on the bulletin board outside the Neuberger
Lounge.  This month we will introduce Susan Wendt.  She is a Stephen Leader responsible for
coordinating recruitment     training, and continuing education.  She worked at Children’s Hospital of
Wisconsin for 37 years in  areas of physician support - Medical Records, Utilization Management, and
Quality Assurance.  Prior to retiring in (2006), she worked four years at the Medical College of
Wisconsin as Administrative   Assistant for the Pediatric Hospital Department.  Susan graduated for
Mount Mary College (2002) with a degree in Behavioral Science.  Attending the Stephen Ministry
Conference (2004) and then returning to Covenant where the four leaders worked, as a closely knit
team, to set up the program was a highlight in her life.  Susan says training and then working with the
Stephen Ministers is a   gratifying, humbling, and learning experience.

Our Ministers are so dedicated.  They value God’s people and want them to experience the love of
Christ especially when they are hurting, troubled, or in need.  They demonstrate this value by
ministering to people through Stephen Ministry.  If you need a Stephen Minister please contact Pastor
Voigt, Jim Newton, Susan Wendt or Judy Omet.
